Behind the Name...

With a $5,000 loan and a heart full of dreams, my journey into ranching began at 14. Fueled by the unwavering support of my family, this dream set the stage for a lifelong passion that would ultimately inspire the name Galloway Silver Company.

When I was just 14 years old, my brother told me about the Belted Galloway breed of cattle. Intrigued by their whimsical Oreo design and unique origin from Scotland, my dad and I researched the breed and found a rancher in Colorado who had Belted Galloways for sale. I took out a young rancher’s loan for $5,000 through the BLM, and we hit the road to buy my first five head of Belties, making me the first person to bring registered Belted Galloway cattle to Utah. I raised those beautiful cattle through high school and into my young adulthood. The money I made helped pay for college and other important milestones in my life.

Life took a heartbreaking turn when I lost my beloved sister to complications from ovarian cancer in 2016, followed by my dad in 2017, and my mom shortly after in 2018. These profound losses deeply affected me, but they also reinforced the importance of family and the precious memories we created together. It was during these challenging times that I found solace in reflecting on the moments spent raising our unique, black-and-white herd with my dad—a journey that brought us closer and laid the foundation for my future business.

When it came time to start my silversmithing business, I wanted a name that carried deep meaning. I reflected on what would be a fitting tribute. It was easy to decide it had to be connected to my original dream of raising Belted Galloways with my dad, as it was a significant chapter in my life, full of hard work, love, and cherished memories. That's how the name Galloway Silver Company was born—a heartfelt nod to my roots and the legacy of my family.
